Gold prices hit highest since August 2016 ahead of Akshay Tritiya

Gold prices on Monday hit highest since August 2016, ahead of Akshay Tritiya, to be celebrated on April 18, 2018.

The prices of gold, this year, went up by 3%. Last week, gold prices hit the highest in nearly a week as the dollar weakened and as investors awaited potential US action against the suspected use of chemical weapons in Syria.

India's March gold import was down 49% on year-on-year basis.
