ICICI Bank is the second biggest private in India, by market capitalisation, after HDFC Bank and followed by the likes of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank and IndusInd Bank. As of March 2023, the Mumbai-based ICICI Bank had 15 subsidiaries, 5,900 branches, 16,650 ATMs and Cash Recycler Machines, and 1,102 Insta Banking Kiosks. ICICI Bank’s international presence includes six overseas branches and representative offices in nine locations outside India. The Bank has Offshore Banking Unit (OBU) in Mumbai and IFSC Banking Unit (IBU) in GIFT City, and wholly-owned subsidiaries in the United Kingdom (UK) and Canada. ICICI Bank UK also has a business centre in Germany. The company\'s total deposits crossed Rs 1 lakh crore mark in March 2022, and the total loans and advances crossed the same milestone a year later in March 2023. ICICI Bank, in its current form, was incorporated in 1994. Before its transformation into a bank, it existed as the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India, which was a government institution born on January 5, 1955 with Sir Arcot Ramasamy Mudaliar as its first Chairman and the World Bank as a partner in the joint venture.
