Gujarat govt to raise tariffs of Tata, Adani and Essar power plants: report
The Gujarat government has decided to raise tariffs of three coal-based power plants owned by Tata Power, Adani Power and Essar Power, by amending the power purchase agreements (PPA) and approaching the power regulator for approval, The Economic Times reported.
The development comes as a relief for the three struggling power plants after an abrupt jump in Indonesian coal and the refusal of states to pay higher tariffs, the report said.
The main power procurer from the three plants in the state, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), has been directed to amend the pacts and approach the regulators for tariff adoption and approval, sources privy to the development told the ET.
The three power companies together produce about 10,000 mega-watt (MW) of coal-generated electricity.
