"The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) team gave site clearance at 11 pm on Sunday, following which railway engineers repaired the track and declared it fit for train movement at 3.30 am," a North Western Railway spokesperson said in Jaipur.
He added that after the track was restored the Asarwar-Udaipur Express was operated and it reached the Udaipur railway station at 12.30 pm.
Taking the matter into cognizance, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that the National Investigation Agency has been called in to probe the explosion incident, the ANI news agency reported.
"A high-level probe is being done. We have called the NIA for the investigation. They will investigate the cause of the incident. We are taking it seriously," Gehlot said while talking to reporters.
Central and state agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), are investigating the case.
Inspector General of Udaipur Range Prafulla said that the explosive expert team of the National Security Guard (NSG) has also collected evidence from the site and other central and state agencies are working together on the case.
”Evidence has been collected from the site. The work at the site has almost been completed and the track has been restored. Now the central and state agency officials will sit together for detailing and discussion on a roadmap for the investigation,” he told reporters at the site in Udaipur.
He said it was too early to say what kind of explosive was used and that it would be clear after the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) gives its report.
The Udaipur superintendent of police has formed a Special Investigation Team for the case, the IG said.
The explosion occurred near Kewda ki Naal under Jawar Mines Police Station of Udaipur in the early hours of Sunday before the Asarwar-Udaipur express train was supposed to pass. Due to the disruption the train was halted at Dungarpur, a Railways spokesperson had said.
According to the SHO Jawar Mines Police Station Anil Kumar Vishnoi, locals heard the explosion and informed the police about it, after which police reached on the site and found found some explosives on the track.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off the inaugural run of the Asarwa-Udaipur express train on this track from Asarwa Railway Station in Ahmedabad on October 31.
Officials have said mining explosives were used in the blast.
