In his seventh address following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic to the nation is as many months, PM Modi talked about the resumption of economic activity in the country on account of the festive season.
He said the country should not forget that while the lockdown is over, the virus is still present amongst us, even a small negligence can dampen the festive spirit.
He highlighted how India has been more successful in saving lives as compared to the developed nations with a low fatality rate of 83 people per 10 lakh.
"If you are careless and moving around without mask, you are putting yourself, children and the elderly at risk," the prime minister said.
In Europe, America and other countries, the number of cases has seen a hike yet again after seeing a decline in the past, he noted. We should continue to be careful and not be callous until a vaccine is found, Modi said.
The prime minister said the government is making all efforts to ensure that a vaccine, whenever it is launched, reaches every Indian. "We all must remember, there can be no laxity till a medicine is found," Modi added.
Talking about the importance of the vaccine, he said scientists are working hard to develop a vaccine against COVID-19 and unless that comes, we cannot weaken our fight against corona.
