The Ministry of Defence has ordered ₹2,095.70 crore worth of INVAR anti-tank missiles with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).

The agreement was signed at South Block, New Delhi, on November 13, 2025, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

The INVAR missile is a laser-guided system with a high hit probability. Its induction is aimed at strengthening the lethality and overall firepower of the T-90 tanks, which form the backbone of the Indian Army’s Armoured Regiments.

The missile is expected to improve the Army’s capability in mechanised operations and provide a tactical edge against adversaries.

The missile is fired through the tank’s gun barrel and is known for its high hit probability at extended ranges. It can engage both stationary and moving targets and is built to operate effectively in varied battlefield conditions.

Its induction is expected to significantly improve the precision and strike capability of armoured units.

The T-90 is a main battle tank equipped with a 125 mm smoothbore gun, advanced fire-control systems, and reactive armour. The platform is designed for high mobility and survivability, making it central to India’s mechanised warfare strategy.

The integration of INVAR missiles enhances the tank’s ability to engage enemy armour at long distances, strengthening frontline combat readiness.

The procurement supports the government’s focus on meeting the Army’s operational needs using the capabilities of Defence Public Sector Undertakings and encouraging domestic industries to develop specialised defence technologies under the Aatmanirbharta initiative.
