PM Modi chairs a high-lever meeting to review Morbi situation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation in Morbi, at Raj Bhavan, Gandhinagar earlier today.
He was briefed about the ongoing rescue operations at the site. He again emphasised on ensuring that those affected get all possible assistance. The high level meeting was attended by CM Bhupendra Patel, MoS Home Harsh Sanghavi, the Chief Secretary and DGP of Gujarat, along with other top officials including those from the Home Department of the State & Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority.
Oreva group claims it spent Rs 2 crore on renovation
Oreva group, the firm that was given a contract by the Morbi Municipality to repair and operate the century-old hanging bridge for 15 years had claimed on October 26 that it had roped in experts for the repair work, adding that the material used was built as per specifications by “specialised firms”, CNN-News18 reported, citing documents assessed by PTI.
Nine arrested in Morbi bridge collapse case
Police arrested nine people in connection with the bridge collapse incident. Officials have registered a criminal case against unnamed people responsible for the renovation, maintenance and management of the suspension bridge that collapsed in Morbi city, killing 134 people, CNN-News18 reported, citing a Reuters report.
