India has reported less than 1 lakh daily cases after 63 days. The daily tally added 86,498 new cases, the lowest in 66 days, thus taking the count to 2,89,96,473. The daily positivity rate is at 4.62 percent, less than 10 percent for 15 consecutive days. The weekly positivity rate stood at 5.94 percent, as per the data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
The active caseload further declined to 13,03,702 as the active cases decreased by 97,907 in the last 24 hours. The recoveries outnumber the daily tally for the 26th consecutive day. In the last 24 hours, 1,82,282 people have recovered, and the number of people who have recuperated from the disease rose to 2,73,41,462. The recovery rate increased to 94.29 percent, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The single-day death toll rose to 2,123, the lowest count since April 22. Total fatalities increased to 3,51,309. The mortality rate is at 1.21 percent, the data stated.
The single-day testing was recorded at 18,73,485. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 36,82,07,596 samples have been tested in the country up to June 7.
India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crores on May 4, 2.50 crore on May 18 and 2.75 crore on May 28.
