The COVID-19 daily recoveries remain above 2 lakh for the 41st straight day. In the last 24 hours, 2,11,499 people have recovered, taking the total count to 2,63,90,584. The recovery rate rose to 92.79 percent, as per the data by the Union Health Ministry.
India has reported 1,34,154 new cases with active cases falling by 80,232. The total case tally stood at 2,84,41,986. The positivity rate slipped to 6.21 percent, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The daily fatalities is below 3,000 again as the single-day toll was reported at 2,887. The death toll rose to 3,37,989. The mortality rate inches higher at 1.19 percent, the data stated.
The single-day testing was recorded at 21.60 lakh, the highest in the last eight days. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 35,37,82,648 samples have been tested in the country up to June 2.
India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crores on May 4, 2.50 crore on May 18 and 2.75 crore on May 28.
