Coronavirus India News and Live Updates: Marking a new rise in the daily COVID-19 cases, India has reported 4,14,188 cases, the Union Health Ministry said. The total number of cases are 2,14,91,598 with 36,45,164 active cases. For the second straight day, India added over 4 lakh cases. The death toll rose to 2,34,083 with 3915 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated at 8 am on Friday. The recovery rate slipped to 81.95 percent and the positivity rate rose to 22.68 percent. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease is 3,31,507 in a day, thus taking the total recoveries to 1,76,12,351.

Government on Friday issued an advisory for induction of trained AYUSH human resources for clinical management of COVID-19. A pool of 8 lakh qualified AYUSH professionals will become available for COVID-19 duties. Ministry of AYUSH will support states/UTs in the development/conversion of AYUSH hospitals to COVID appropriate facilities. This could add 50,000 beds, 750 AYUSH hospitals (presently AYUSH medical colleges), and 86 clinical facilities (at National Institutes and Research Units of Ministry of AYUSH) to the Covid- 19 infrastructure. All India AYUSH PG Entrance which is postponed by NTA will be held after 31st August 2021.

Negotiations underway with RDIF for availability of Sputnik vaccine in Maharashtra: Tope
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Friday said negotiations are underway with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) for the availability of Russian Sputnik vaccine in Maharashtra. He added that oxygen constructor is to be procured through global tender. "Committee of three doctors has been appointed to look into the technical aspects of the device tenders. Incidence of coronavirus infection in children is on the rise and a task force of pediatricians will be set up in the state in view of the warning given about the third wave."

COVID-19: IAF ferries three cryogenic containers from Israel
The Indian Air Force ferried three cryogenic containers in its C17 transport aircraft from Israel in an operation coordinated by the Union home ministry to ease bottlenecks in oxygen supply across the country to meet the increasing demand triggered by the second wave of COVID19, officials said Friday. Cryogenic cylinders, used for liquid oxygen transport, are being procured from across the world and being brought to various parts of the country by the IAF in coordination with the home ministry, they said.
Israel dispatches second consignment of COVID medical supplies to India
Israel on Friday dispatched the second consignment of medical aid, including three large oxygen generator plants, to India to deal with the recent surge in coronavirus cases. An Indian Air Force aircraft carrying 360 oxygen concentrators and three large oxygen generator plants left BenGurion Airport for India on Friday afternoon.

The Delhi High Court Friday said there was no use of making a waiting list for hospitals beds on the Delhi government's website as a person goes there in emergency and nobody is going to wait in these COVID19 pandemic days. The high court also suggested that patients from lower strata could be given basic medicines like paracetamol along with steamers and thermometers as immediate COVID help. A bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli said it will be a counterproductive thing to have waiting list for hospital beds while rejecting a submission by an advocate that waiting list should be updated on the bed portal of the government.

Fake COVID-19 testing centre sealed in Puri district
An unauthorised COVID19 testing centre cum laboratory was sealed in Puri district on Friday and a laboratory technician was arrested for allegedly running the fake unit, police said. Some rapid antigen test (RAT) kits were seized from the laboratory in Kakatpur area following the arrest of the accused, Prakash Dash (36), who did his diploma in lab management, a police officer said.
Night curfew in Arunachal Pradesh from Saturday, no ILP to be issued in May
Night curfew from 6.30 pm to 5 am will be imposed in Arunachal Pradesh for the entire month, starting Saturday, and all shops and business establishments have been told to down shutters by 4 pm, as part of the state government's measures to check the spread of COVID19, a senior official said here. According to the government order, released on Friday, inner line permits (ILPs) will not be issued to tourists during the month, and government offices will have to function with 50 per cent Group C and Group D staff on any given day.
