8 months after it was put into effect, RBI issues FAQ on data localisation circular

The central bank has made it clear that payment system data is to be stored exclusively in India, and that if the data needs to be processed abroad, all copies of that data must be deleted within 24 hours.
The US National Trade Estimate Report of 2018 highlighted India’s data localisation policy as a trade barrier for US companies.
