Petrol prices rise while diesel falls across cities; check rates here
Petrol price in Mumbai stood at Rs 78.17 a litre while diesel was at Rs 70.42 per litre, at par with December 2018 levels.
According to the Indian Oil Corp data, in New Delhi, petrol costs Rs 72.55 per litre and diesel Rs 67.22 per litre. In Kolkata and Chennai, petrol stood at Rs 74.63 per litre and Rs 75.37 per litre while diesel stood at Rs 69.01 per litre and Rs 71.04 a litre, respectively.
It may not be smooth running for the ruling BJP-led NDA government in the coming elections if one measures electoral fortunes of political formations based on public perception built over rising fuel prices.
