Petrol prices fell Rs 5 per litre while diesel rose Rs 5 per litre across major cities on Tuesday.

Petrol prices fell Rs 5 per litre while diesel rose Rs 5 per litre across major cities on Tuesday.
The petrol price in Mumbai stood at Rs 78.50 a litre while diesel was at Rs 69.40 per litre, at par with March 2019 end levels.
According to the Indian Oil Corp data, in New Delhi, petrol costs Rs 72.93 per litre and diesel Rs 66.31 per litre. In Kolkata and Chennai, petrol stood at Rs 74.95 per litre and Rs 75.69 per litre while diesel was at Rs 68.05 per litre and Rs 70.01 a litre, respectively.
Domestic fuel prices have largely been on an upward movement during the first three months of 2019. In Delhi, petrol prices have gained over Rs 4 per litre since January 1.
The increase in fuel prices, of late, has been subdued in proportion to the recent surge in global crude oil prices, and experts say it is the ongoing general elections which have made the state-run oil companies to put the dynamic pricing policy on hold for now, fearing a public backlash.
As per the country's dynamic pricing mechanism, the domestic fuel prices depend upon international fuel prices on a 15-day average and the value of the rupee.
