Maharastra government on Thursday decided to give additional relief of Rs 2.5 per litre on petrol, tweeted chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The reduction in the petrol price by the government will give the people a total benefit of Rs 5 per litre.
The centre on Thursday reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 per litre and oil marketing companies (OMC) will absorb the impact to the tune of Re 1 per litre.
Petrol prices touched an all-time high of Rs 91.34 per litre in Mumbai on Thursday. Diesel is priced at Rs 80.10 per litre in the city.
