Fuel prices slip on Friday; petrol at Rs 83.57/litre in Mumbai

Petrol price has been cut by more than Rs 4.72 per litre and diesel by Rs 3.13 in the last 24 days in Mumbai on softer international rates, a pace faster than the spike in prices witnessed in the two-month period beginning mid-August.
Several Congress activists and businessmen said on Thursday suggested that if the party-led opposition alliance was voted to power then it should impose Goods and Services Tax (GST) on petroleum products to tame surging prices.
