Indian armed forces have been rehearsing at the Rajpath, New Delhi for several days for the 70th Republic Day, to be held on January 26. The spectacular show, held every year, includes the armed forces marching to band tunes, breathtaking state and ministerial tableau.

Indian Army soldiers wait for the start of rehearsals for the upcoming Republic Day parade amidst morning smog in New Delhi on January 18. Air quality in the capital region, already the worst in the world, is hovering between 'severe' to 'poor' category and an ongoing cold wave is worsening the air quality in parts of north India where road, rail and air traffic is also being hit by a dense fog.
