Petrol prices cut by 22 paise per litre, diesel by 23 paise

The fuel prices vary from state to state in the country due to the value-added tax or VAT.

The prices of petrol and diesel are reviewed by oil marketing companies such as state-run Indian Oil on a daily basis and any revision is implemented from 6 am in the morning.

The oil marketing companies (OMCs) slashed fuel prices on Tuesday. Petrol and diesel prices were decreased by up to 23 paise per litre, according to a price notification from oil marketing companies.

In Delhi, petrol now costs Rs 90.56 per litre and diesel is priced at Rs 80.87. In Mumbai, petrol comes for Rs 96.98 a litre and diesel for Rs 87.96 a litre.

Meanwhile, oil prices fell on Tuesday as shipping traffic resumed through the Suez Canal after days on hold and attention switched to an OPEC+ meeting this week where the extension of supply curbs may be on the table amid new coronavirus pandemic lockdowns.

Brent crude was down 15 cents, or 0.2 percent, at $64.83 a barrel by 0115 GMT, after gaining 0.6 percent on Monday. US oil was down 1 cent at $61.55 a barrel, having fallen 1 percent in the previous session, according to news agency Reuters.
