The UK's foreign affair ministry on Monday said that London is being used as a 'base' for the corrupt assets of individuals linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin, CNBC said.
"The use of London as a base for the corrupt assets of Kremlin-connected individuals is now clearly linked to a wider Russian strategy and has implications for our national security," the report, "Moscow's Gold: Russian Corruption in the UK," said.
The assets stored and laundered in London, support Vladimir Putin's campaign to destabalize the international rules-based system, undermine UK's allies and erode the mutually reinforcing international networks that support UK's foreign policy, the committee said, as reported by CNBC.

The report stated that UK was guilty itself in turning a blind eye to London's role in hiding the facts related to Kremlin-connected corruption, adding that Downing Street should be more firm on the its foreign policies related to Russia, the report added.
The report comes at a time when the relations between London and Moscow is tensed. Tensions peaked in March when a former Russian spy, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter were poisoned in Salisbury, England, with a Russian-made Novichok nerve agent, CNBC said.
