Jal Sahelis quench the thirst of parched villages in Bundelkhand

Updated : April 30, 2019 03:55 PM IST

A network of women across Bundelkhand villages are reviving water harvesting techniques and traditional water bodies in the drought-ridden region.
The ‘Jal Sahelis’ construct check dams and desilt old ponds to collect rainwater for use in summer and to keep wells, borewells recharged.
Their efforts have helped agriculture in the villages where farmers now grow three crops instead of traditionally one.
