How global geologic processes lace your glass of water with arsenic

Updated : July 15, 2019 05:53 PM IST

A study claims to have established the link between global geological processes (tectonics) and local scale groundwater arsenic pollution influencing human health.
The study says that swathes of groundwater arsenic polluted areas across the world are mostly located in basins that run parallel to mountain ranges along convergent (tectonic) plate boundaries.
The conceptual model may help identify less-studied regions where arsenic may exist in groundwater.
