Hasmukh Adhia to retire today: The man responsible for GST implementation

Adhia, a 1981-batch Gujarat cadre officer of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), moved to Delhi in November 2014 as the secretary in the department of financial services after Narendra Modi became the prime minister.
Adhia, in his four-year stint in the finance ministry, served as the revenue and finance secretary where he and his team spearheaded the implementation of the newly adopted GST tax regime.
He was known for the formulation of various social sector programmes of the Modi government and has also worked closely with Modi himself.
