Former foreign secretary S. Jaishankar appointed as Tata Group's President of Global Corporate Affairs

Jaishankar had written to Narendra Modi for a waiver of the "cooling-off period" for bureaucrats.
Jaishankar joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1977.
He is credited with helping to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the stand-off between Indian and Chinese troops at Doklam.
