Direct tax collections rise 16.7% in April-Sept period

The net collections have increased by 14 percent to Rs. 4.44 lakh crore in the first half of the current financial year while the direct tax collections are 38.6 percent of the total Budget Estimates, that is Rs 11.50 lakh crore.
The tax refunds, Rs 1.03 lakh crore, have been issued between April and September, that is 30.4 percent higher than the refunds issued during the same period in the preceding year.
