China’s annual consumer inflation accelerated to 2.3 percent in August, the fastest pace since February this year and beating expectations, official data showed on Monday.
The consumer price index (CPI) had been expected to rise 2.2 percent year-on-year, according to a Reuters poll, up from previous month’s 2.1 percent.
The producer price index (PPI) - a gauge of industrial profitability - increased 4.1 percent in August, slowing from the previous month’s 4.6 percent growth, the statistics bureau said.
Analysts polled by Reuters had expected producer inflation would slip to 4.0 percent in August.
