Moody's said that the government fund requirements for public sector banks (PSBs) will shrink substantially to about Rs 20,000-25,000 crore by March 2020 on the back of improving asset quality.
The capital infusion is to help them maintain regulatory capital requirements and finance growth plans.
Moody's Vice-President and Senior Credit Officer Alka Anbarasu said the capital infusions will help the PSBs meet regulatory capital requirements and improve provisioning coverage.
