Bimal Jalan panel report on RBI capital reserves delayed further; next meeting after Budget
Updated : June 26, 2019 05:18 PM IST
Those with knowledge of the matter said 'some recalculation' may be required, indicating the panel has been unable to arrive at an appropriate formula for estimating and sharing the RBI's surplus reserves with the government.
With the panel now meeting after the Budget and the report not final yet, it looks difficult for the government to include some projections on the additional RBI dividend in the July 5 budget.
The Jalan panel originally was to submit its report in 90 days from its first meeting held on January 8 but in April, the panel sought and got a three-month extension.
