Facebook-owned Instagram launches Instagram Lite on Google Play store, says report
The Facebook-owned photo-sharing platform has tacitly launched “Instagram Lite” for Android users, BGR
reported.

Instagram Lite is a 573 kb download.  “The Instagram Lite app is small, allowing you to save space on your phone and download it quickly” the app description reads.

The Lite app lets users filter and post photos stories on Instagram and allows you to watch stories from other friends and an option to browse the service via explore tab as well, the report said, pointing that the app does not have the option of sharing videos or direct message to friends such as the major features available on the app.

With Instagram Lite, the Facebook-owned service is addressing the need for an app is designed primarily for those who use devices with little memory and low-powered processor.

The Instagram Lite app follows the launch of redesigned mobile website last month.
