    Scoot, the low-cost arm of Singapore Airlines Group, on Thursday announced new flights to Coimbatore, Trivandrum and Visakhapatnam as part of its effort to expand and strengthen its presence in India.

    Flights to Trivandrum (5-times weekly) will commence from May 7 2019, and flights to Coimbatore (5-times weekly) and Visakhapatnam (3-times weekly) will start from October 27, the airline said in a statement.
    “With three new cities, India is a big part of our growth in Asia this year. As we ramp up our operations in the region and establish a local team to help support our long-term objectives, customers can look forward to more affordable fares and innovative offerings from us.” chief commercial officer Vinod Kannan said in the statement.
    In India, Scoot already operates seven existing routes from Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Lucknow, and Tiruchirappalli, it said.
    The new routes are due to be transferred over from sister airline, SilkAir and Scoot will be the only airline operating direct non-stop flights from Trivandrum and Vishakhapatnam to Singapore, the airline said.
    The airline also announced a limited-time sale on flights from all its India points - including Trivandrum, Coimbatore and Visakhapatnam - starting from January 14 till 28.
    Flyers can book economy class tickets for as low as Rs 4,500 for trips to 27 cities in Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam via Singapore.
    Scoot offers no-frills, seat-only fares and charges products and services separately. The airline operates wide-bodied Boeing 787 planes, also known as Dreamliners.
