"In the absence of any emergency funding from the lenders or any other source of funds forthcoming in the near future, we find ourselves facing a situation where we are not able to fund the premium of our group mediclaim policy.
"The group mediclaim policy lapses on the midnight of April 30 , 2019," chief people officer Rahul Taneja told employees in an email.
"These circumstances are not of our doing and much as we would wish to do things differently, we are left with little choice," Taneja added.
Employees have now been asked to take a medical insurance cover of their choice.
"... Insurance team will be able to provide you with assistance in the matter. You may please write to them directly at - jetinsurance@jetairways.com and also write to your HR SPOC," the email read.
While the company stated that there are no signs of interim funding before the completion of bidding process, they also reiterated that the management has not yet given up on efforts and continues to engage with the lenders and support them in the bid process.
"We are working with them proactively to find opportunities to revive our beloved airline. As soon as we have more clarity on this matter we will share the same with you," Taneja wrote to employees.
Last week, the CEO of the airline Vinay Dube had also written a mail to employees saying that none of the stakeholders are ready to put in funds for payment of employee salaries. Multiple rounds of discussions with the promoter, strategic investor Etihad, lenders and government have not yielded any positive result for the ailrine, Dube had said.
The company has also suspended all phone connections under the name of the airline owing to absence of funds.
With one bad news after another, the airline currently stares at a blank future with no clarity on bidding process and no help from any of the parties involved.
