Chengdu is the 19th addition to IndiGo’s international destinations portfolio after adding Istanbul, Jeddah and Dammam, earlier this year.
Budget carrier IndiGo is set to launch its daily non-stop flight to Chengdu, China, from September 2019. This will be the first non-stop flight that will be operated to Chengdu from New Delhi.
IndiGo flight no. 6E 7303/7304 will fly from Delhi to Chengdu on September 15 and from Chengdu to Delhi on September 16. The company will open the sale of tickets as soon as it secures the requisite regulatory approvals, it said in a statement.
Chengdu is the 19th addition to IndiGo’s international destinations portfolio after adding Istanbul, Jeddah and Dammam earlier this year. Out of the 18 international routes that are already operational , 11 were announced in 2018-19, the airline said.
“India is witnessing a much higher growth rate with respect to aviation and currently the India-China route is underserved by Indian carriers. With our plan to operate non-stop daily flights to Chengdu, we are providing the much-needed connectivity between the two destinations,” William Boulter, chief commercial officer, IndiGo said.
Earlier this year, the low-cost carrier also signed a codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines, which benefits the customers with extended connectivity to 12 destinations in Europe.
