IndiGo offers discounted fares starting Rs 999 for domestic travel

Budget carrier IndiGo is offering discounted fares to boost its summer ticket sales. The airline is offering tickets at a starting price of Rs 999 for domestic travel, while IndiGo flight ticket prices start at Rs 3,499 for international routes under the summer holiday offer.

IndiGo launched a three-day booking window for these discounted fares. The offer can be availed between May 14 and May 16. 10 lakh seats are available under the offer for travel between May 29 to September 28, 2019.

The routes covered under the offer are Delhi-Ahmedabad, Mumbai-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Dubai, Chennai-Kuwait, Delhi-Kuala Lumpur and Bengaluru-Male among others, the airline said in a statement.

IndiGo is also offering discounts up to 30 percent on pre-paid excess baggage and pre-paid express check-in service.

“This three-day special sale reinforces IndiGo’s commitment of providing all our customers with an on-time, courteous and hassle-free experience at low fares, always,” William Boulter, chief commercial officer, said.

Last month, IndiGo announced six additional daily non-stop flights from Delhi, starting May 25.

The move by the airline comes as a relief at a time of a spike in the airfares after Jet Airways temporarily shut down its business and the aviation industry has been unable to meet the passenger demand.

In March, after the Ethiopian Air crash and the worldwide grounding of all Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, the airfares surged 49 percent, according to Yatra data.

According to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for March this year, IndiGo's domestic passenger market share stands at 46.9 percent.
