Government could ease restrictions on Air India stake sale

The government is open to tweaking the restrictive conditions for Air India sale if it sees it received a weak response after the May 14 deadline, Mint reported.

Though the government is believed to be open to tweaking the norms a bit, no changes in the terms of sale will be made if the company claims to opt of the bidding race for the state-owned airline, sources told the paper on Thursday.

For the companies who did not announce their interest in the airline before the deadline, will get a fresh chance, the report said, quoting sources.

If any changes are required in the terms of sale, it will be put together by EY based on the suggestions they receive by a group of ministers chaired by Arun Jaitley, finance minister, the report said.
