Paid a bomb for excess luggage on planes? Gati-KWE offers respite

Updated : September 23, 2019 06:33 AM IST

Trying to keep the luggage inside the airline allowance is a struggle all flyers are familiar with. For every kilogram above the allowed weight the airlines charge substantial fee — in fact, calling it extortionate wouldn’t be hyperbole. However, a new service named Gati-KWE is offering to ship your excess baggage at a significantly reduced cost.
The company charges Rs 290 which reduces to Rs 90 for every additional kilogram after the first to ship the luggage by air.
In comparison, India’s leading domestic carrier, IndiGo, charges Rs 400 per kilogram at the airport. They also have pre-paid options that are slightly cheaper than the airport option — Rs 1,000 per 3 kilogram, Rs 1,900 per 5 kilogram etc.
