GMR-led Hyderabad International Airport is all set to commence operations of its new 'interim' international terminal next Tuesday. The 'interim' terminal will facilitate seamless travel for passengers as the airport is currently undergoing a massive expansion.
GMR is expected to invest close to Rs 2,600 crore towards the expansion of Hyderabad airport, which is likely to handle an estimated passenger capacity of 40-45 million by 2025. The company will fund the expansion through a combination of 70-80 debt and internal accruals.
Hyderabad airport has been India's fastest growing airport in terms of passenger capacity in the last few years. "Hyderabad has grown 24 percent YoY consecutively these past years and is expected to handle 20 million passengers this fiscal alone," said GK Kishore, chief executive officer, GHIAL.
Currently, 22 global carriers fly out of Hyderabad, connecting the city to 29 international destinations, with an average of 5,500 passengers daily.
