Kia Motors unveiled its compact SUV Seltos worldwide Thursday. The car, which the South Korean carmaker claims is specially designed for Indian roads, comes with a number of features such as a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, in-car WiFi, among others.

CNBC-TV18 spoke with Manohar Bhat, the Kia Motors' vice-president and head of sales and marketing to get the company's business outlook and goods and services tax (GST) expectations.

On the launch of the electric vehicle, he said: "Our production line is capable of making an electric vehicle right from day one. We have also got many best sellers electric vehicles running in the US, Europe and Korea, we have enough products also in the market.

"So it should not be any problem for us to get in electric vehicles. In India we are looking at the Seltos and after that every six months we plan to introduce a new vehicle."

On GST, Bhat said: "I do not think GST reduction would enthuse many manufacturers to produce vehicles in a hurry, the reason being infrastructure and consumer demand are paramount in this. As far as I can see the infrastructure is still lagging behind, so without that to introduce an electric vehicle immediately will not make sense to us."
