Temporary workers at Tata Motors' Pantnagar plant halted work on Monday morning, demanding compensation for their deceased colleague Sandeep Kumar Vishwakarma, said sources.
This in turn, is likely to have an impact on the portion of Tata Ace vehicles produced at the Pantnagar plant.
"Deeply saddened by shocking demise of Sandeep Kumar Vishwakarma owing to sudden cardiac arrest," said Tata Motors to CNBC-TV18 adding that it would extend necessary support to his family.
Terming the workers' demands "unreasonable", the company said, "Some temporary workers are leading agitation in plant premises seeking unreasonable demands from management."
While, rest of the work force continued the work, extending support in resolving the issue.
The management of the company is reportedly looking into the matter to resolve it amicably.
