Citroen launches C5 Aircross in India, price starts at Rs 29.90 lakh

The SUV was expected to be launched in 2020, but the automaker had to postpone the launch due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Citroen India launched the C5 Aircross on Wednesday. The SUV is being offered in two variants — Feel and Shine — and comes at an introductory price of Rs 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Earlier, in February 2021, Citroen India had unveiled the all-new Citroen C5 Aircross. The SUV was expected to be launched in 2020, but the automaker had to postpone the launch due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SUV is being assembled in India from scratch with Citroen operating 10 La Maison dealerships across the country. The C5 Aircross can also be bought online through Citroen's website.

Engine

The Citroen C5 Aircross boasts a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, that makes 177hp and 400Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offers a fuel efficiency of 18.6kmpl. One of the highlights for Indian roads is the hydraulic cushion suspension system. According to Citroen, the suspension will cushion any kind of discomfort arising from bumps on Indian roads.

Interior & features

The SUV has a range of features, such as a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-inch touchscreen, air purifier, powered driver seat, hands-free parking, and a panoramic sunroof. The AC vents blend in well with the dashboard.

In terms of safety features, the SUV has six airbags, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control, reverse camera, blind spot assist and driver fatigue alert among other features.

The Citroen C5 Aircross is a five-seat SUV and has a flexible seating option. Each of its three rear seats can slide front and back up to 150 mm. They can also be folded down to create room for luggage. The SUV has a boot space of 580 litres. By reclining the rear seats forward, the boot space can be increased to 720 litres. Folding the three rear seats increases the space by a whopping 1,630 litres.

Exterior

The SUV C5 has 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. It measures 4,500mm in length, 1,969mm in width and 1,710mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,730mm. The entry-level C5 Aircross comes with auto wipers and headlamps. It has a split front grille, dual-beam LED headlamps with LED DRLs, split LED tail lamps and an upright rear end.

Price

Feel is available in a single tone, which costs Rs 29.90 lakh, and dual-tone, which comes at a price tag of Rs 30.40 lakh.
Shine is priced at Rs 31.90 lakh for both single- and dual-tone versions.

Competition

The Citroen C5 Aircross will take on the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
