The 9th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit took place in the state's capital, Gandhinagar over the weekend. Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, spoke to CNBC-TV18 about the company's upcoming plants in Gujarat.
"Maruti has started one plant and second plant would be starting sooner and third plant will be coming in 2020. The company is continuously investing not only in assembling but also in manufacturing engines and transmission," Ayukawa said on the sidelines of the summit.
"2019 is a difficult year because the market has become slower in the second half. Maruti is planning to launch a new car this month," he added.
"Attaining double-digit growth will be difficult in 2019," said Ayukawa.
