While the Freestyle’s diesel motor is the same 1.5-litre engine you get it for Figo, there’s a new 1.2-litre, three cylinder Dragon series that runs the mill in the petrol variant.
The Freestyle comes in four different trims, while the petrol unit makes 96PS of max power and 120Nm of max torque, the diesel generates 100PS of power and 215Nm of torque.
Both the engines are offered with a 5-speed manual transmission and the Freestyle claims an ARAI approved efficiency number of 19 kmpl for the petrol and 24.4 kmpl for the diesel.
Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, Ford India, said, “The demand is always going to be a sign of consumer feedback. We are very confident we have understood the consumer need which is a utility vehicle in the Rs 5-7 lakh band."
"We have also brought in a product that doesn't just look like a UV (Utility Vehicle) but it also has driving capabilities of a UV. So, the right combination of design and attributes has been brought to the consumer at the sweet spot of Rs 5-7 lakhs,” he added.
Ford India's Compact Utility Vehicle a.k.a. CUV looks very similar to the Figo but changes are visible in the form of new body claddings on the sides and wheel arches, blackened headlamps and grille mesh, black surrounds on the fog lamps, black roof rails and skid plates.
The safety list includes anti-lock braking system with EBD, front dual airbags standard across the range, engine immobilizer, high-speed warning alarm, reverse parking sensor and Active-rollover protection. The higher trim gets up to six airbags as well.
The Titanium + trim which is the top of the line Freestyle variant comes with a touchscreen infotainment system that is integrated with AppleCar Play & Android Auto. It also comes with the Ford Sync3 with voice control.
The host of features offered in this CUV are rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and Ford’s MyKey.
While the bookings for the car have already begun earlier this week, deliveries are set to start soon.
